Meet Kat Freeze
Kat Freeze is the owner and founder of Meter and Milestones. She graduated from DePaul University in 2018 with a BA in Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse, where she also worked as a peer-writing tutor at The University Center for Writing-based Learning. She worked in a variety of fields before beginning her career in education by teaching at a Montessori school. She created Meter and Milestones in order to bring all of her skills, passions and talents into one cohesive business.
​In addition to working with young people, Kat is a spoken word performer and typewriter poet. Kat was the 2018 Louder Than a Bomb College Slam Champion and a 2023 Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards Semifinalist. She worked as a typewriter poet at the WNDR Museum for two years and her writing has been featured in Motley Magazine, 14East and Beyond Words. Her full resume can be downloaded here.
